changing to jbl 4333

I'm thinking of moving to a pair of 4333's or L300 from my homebuilt Altec clones w/515b's, 902-8b's and 511 horns. I drive these with a pair of VTA 70 tube mono's. What difference could I expect that would justify getting these?:confused:

You will get a much realistic and true sound with the 4333.

I fired up my system today and listened to some rock, classical and easy at med/high listning levels ( I like loud) . If i'm going to get that much more from the L300's I should take a second on my house and get some 4350's. :eek:

The 4333 is us a great speaker, unless a pair of 4350's fall into your lap it i,a lot of money for thé product. Over thé past few years i have seen some very good deals on thé larger 43xx four ways. They are thé equivalent to an l400 that jbl never made. Just my 2cents.

If i'm going to get that much more from the L300's I should take a second on my house and get some 4350's. :eek:For someone who likes loud, you might find the L300/4333 a disappointment... they will require much more power to achieve the same SPLs and they won't "sound as loud"... if loud is seriously important, I would seriously look at the 4350 or 4355... or a DIY variant. You will need to bi-amp, but an Ashly crossover is affordable and you can pick up a large Hafler, JBL/Urei, QSC, or Crown amp for the bottom at a low price... if you have basic woodworking skills, there is enough info here to get you there.

I saw the DIY 43xx and 44xx series that have been done here and I have the equipment and skills to accomlish those. It is still a prodigious task. the drivers, crossovers and woofers in themselves would end up quite pricy, it would not be a inexpensive endeavor to say the least. I wouldn't mind building the 4 way if I could find all the drivers.

I would go with 2445 drivers (to save money) and use new 2441 or Be aftermarket diaphragms. I would also try to buy all blown drivers and have them newly refurbed by a skilled reconer like member Edgewound... this isn't the least expensive route but it will yield the highest quality drivers.

Any idea in a rough ballpark kind of answer what amount of Rupees I would be disposing of for the drivers? :crying:
