Hey Guys.

I have just ordered a JBL 4645c for my surround setup.

Will it be necessary to add a high pass filter to the sub if I don't want the driver to be damaged? I am planning to use the recommended B6-equalizing on it.

Hi
You schould highpass at 20Hz as is say's in the specsheet. Are you using one or two of them and what amplifier are you using. Not familiar with the crossover type you are using, I myself is using DBX PAplus with great result.
Thanks

A B6 alignment uses a high pass filter to create the bump. You set the bump at the tuning frequency of the enclosure, which is 25 Hz.

Ok maybe I am not going to do a B6 then... My plan was to do a 6db boost at 25hz as specified. But if I have to do a high-pass at 20hz, I'll have to invest in a new EQ/Crossover.

I'm using the Behringer DEQ2496 as equalizer right now - I know most of you guys don't like Behringer, but it is fine for sub-use. I'm still studying at the university, so dont have the money for more at det moment.

I am starting out with only one sub, and powering it with a Behringer EP2500. (Yes Behringer again :o:)

I believe if you do the B6 alingment, you won't need to have the additional 20Hz HPF

right?
