New JBL 43xx Studio Monitor

All references to this new Studio Monitor have been removed as per Harman Japan. Evidently someone there reads this forum and they were "extremely displeased" that there was any mention of the new monitor since Stereo Sound wants exclusive announcement in their September 2010 issue. We are free to do whatever after that time.

No comments !!!!Dude... everytime I see your avatar I'm reminded of how much I really like my 4338-type clones... 1500AL in 5 cu ft box tuned to 28 Hz, 476Be bolted to the H4338, modified Everest II network. No 045Be just yet, I'm not sure if I will bother. I was looking for a stellar replacement for my 4430's and these do the job just fine.

I absolutely do miss the shear impact of my 4345 clones, especially at the low volumes I usually listen at, but I don't miss the nearly twice as large boxes. Even 5 cu ft is a pain to deal with anymore. :rotfl:

I asked Greg once about using that 4429 in a 5.1 and his response was "That would be killer!"

Five of these puppies and a pair of custom, blue baffled 1500 Arrays would probably do it.

for 16000 you get a Revel Studio 2

I like a lot more the JBL 4365 (more speaker ) and it probably sounds better than my Array 1400

I like a lot more the JBL 4365 (more speaker ) and it probably sounds better than my Array 1400 Jerry seems pretty happy with the way the cloth surround worked out. It should last forever.

The combination of the fifteen and the four-inch compression driver bolted to that splendid sonoglass horn should sound pretty nice. :D

If the price in the article is correct, the 4368 will cost 100.000NOK.

As comparison, Array 1400 costs 80.000NOK and K2 S9900 250.000NOK (E2 = 450,000NOK)

The price is just an estimation. Will depend of the distributors marges :confused: I am afraid it might grow up of 20 %.

these will retail pretty close to the new K2 9900 . Harmon Europe wont under cut themselves by selling
pretty much the same components ,hence sound, for much less than the new K2 ..... would you ?

The S9900 uses the 045BE while this new monitor uses the 045TI (roughly half the cost). The S9900 uses the 1500AL-1 while this new monitor uses a "cloth surround version of the 1500FE" (roughly half the cost). This new monitor has more bottom end than the S9900 as measured at JBL. The cloth surround worked out very well.

I did not know "diodes" were being used in crossovers!

Regards, RonSure. Here are the document schematics.

The K2-S9900 is using the diode on the low pass but retains the battery on the high pass just in case people want to bi-amp it. There usually isn't enough juice to the high pass to bias the capacitors in bi-amp mode, hence the battery.

It's quite clever indeed! Though those of us using high-efficiency systems at home would never manage to actually get a stable bias- think I'll stick with batteries.

My 100 db/watt system runs approx 1 watt/chnl on peaks, most of the time loafing around 400 - 600 mW chnl!
