4430 vs. S/2600

Which are 'better'? Subjective to some perhaps. Just curious. I have never heard the 4430 but they seem to be held in high regard here.

I have both. I've heard them in the same room, driven by the same gear. Both are impressive.

IMO, S/2600 is better, especially in a home environment. If I were forced to sell one pair, the 4430s would go without a moment's hesitation so that I could keep the S/2600s.

Others will feel differently, but to me it's an easy choice.

Once. It's not really a fair sample, so take this for what it's worth: I wouldn't trade up unless I were convinced it was a lot better than the S/2600. That one audition did not convince me.

I've often wondered why the S/2600 won Japan's Golden Sound Award and Stereo Sound Component of The Year Award in 1994 and the S/3100 never won anything.
