In the building 4344/4345 thread I recently wrote :

I would add a lot of very useful technical information and images are posted of equal or greater value than in this thread and then lost as all the new threads roll forward and I don't see the search function as a solution.

We seem to be treading over old ground a lot and as a Heritage Forum I think we could be doing this better.

As a possible structure we could re-group the post classifications to JBL DIY Vintage monitors, Restorations 43xx, Repairs etc so that the threads are a bit more refined.

Then perhaps once every three months we nominate various threads and posts for editing and archive or save in the library.

There are good examples if this approach in other forums like this one.

We need a consensus on the any potential change, the signs are encouraging.

We also need an editor, my vote is for Giskard, technically competent and can shoot straight.

There already is a forum specifically set up for this, but has never been used due to the lack of an editor (see Reference forum). I agree that Giskard would be an excellent editor.

Okay Don,

I was not aware of that, mostly as its never had anything in it!

Well as a first step perhaps those who are interested can identify potential posts/threads for the reference area.

Then we can sort out a system for organsing it. This may create a backlog initialy but I think the effort woud be very worth while and will reduce the tendancy for redundancy and then require only routine maintenance.

Giskard, are you interested?

Not that I am aware of but it would be a good idea.

I personally see that of prime importance to the legacy of Lansing Heritge.

Some members systems are in the library as I recall.

We have a place for readers systems and reference material but issue of navigation needs updating with perhaps a revised menu Bar.
