Hello all. I have a question pioneer receivers or sansui receivers. which one sound better or more musical detail. I had the pioneer sx 1280 and I still have the sansui g-7500. I think they both sound great but my personal thoughts are the sound of the sansui is a little more sweeter. I have a chance to buy a pioneer sx 1250 or a sansui 9090db and a sansui g-9000 any input will help thx gene

I have a Sansui G-8000 and love it. The G-9000 will give a bit more power and a few more options. I beleive the overall 'sound' to be the same. I have heard Pioneer in college and it was good, but I have always perferred the Sansui's. Good luck!

Any chance you could listen to all 3 with your speakers?

Brand/model differences aside these are vintage receivers and some or all of them may be out of adjustment or have issues due to aging caps, etc.. Tuner sections especially come to mind if you still have radio stations in your area worth listening to.

Good luck, and if healthy, any of these sound pretty fine to me!

Watt for Watt I like the Sansui sound. When it comes to a Vintage Sansui Reciever such as a 9090DB up against an SX 1250, I personaly would take the Pioneer due to it's repairability if anything goes wrong. The Dolby Boards are a real pain in the Sansui. I may have just been unlucky as it always seemed every 9090DB I bought apparently was run it's whole life next to an ashtray. :crying:

But honestly only if you were able to run the 2 recievers side by side with an A/B switch could you really tell the difference. Too bad you didn't throw a Marantz 2325 in the mix! :bouncy:

I had a 9090db and it was very musical, make the Pioneers sound slightly dry...best receiver that I ever heard ( by a big margin ) was the Marantz 2385
