It is designed for small sealed or vented boxes. A larger box wouldn't be much help. 1.5 to 3.0 cu ft. is about it. The "problem" with the W1500H is that it is extremely powerful and that is why it needs a bit of EQ. The Bl is over 30 T*m... It also has a very small equivalent compliance, roughly 5.6 cu ft.

Here is the EQ curve of the 1500 Array. It's a modest 4 dB at 25 Hz.

THANKS

it is a very nice sub driver (excellent performance)

Revel will be using it for the new B150 probably with some slite modifications in electronics and cone finish

In the JBL models are the 1500array and the hb5000 difrent in response i have neve seen a HB5000 is it ported

Yeah the Revel version isn't as nice I don't think but they wanted it the way they wanted it. :dont-know:
I'm not really into the whole oversized dustcap thing.

If I remember correctly one was vented and one was sealed. I had the HB5000 EDS at one point but can't find it right now.

I've hooked a few forum members up with some W1500H's but they never posted their projects.

it is a very nice sub driver (excellent performance)It's designed with a reinforced neck so it doesn't blow apart in small sealed boxes like previous JBL drivers would do. It also doesn't have xMech issues like previous JBL drivers had. It handles tons of power as well. Finally, it has exceptional transient response. Quite frankly, there is no substitue. The 136HS used in the S2S isn't even remotely in the same league.

I've heard the HB5000 at JBL but the room and system were unfamiliar so I can't say I really know it... the 1500 Array is quite pricy but it is simply outstanding. As much as I love my Sub1500 based subwoofers with large external amps, the 1500 Array with it's built in amp is remarkably effortless, extremely powerful, and still as dynamic and musical as the Sub1500.

I've ordered a pair of W1500h today :)

Should I stay with Array 1500 or HB5000 clones or is there any better ideas for them? If possible I would really love to have a bit more output to 20hz than the Array 1500 curves show...

Anyone comapred HB5000 to Array 1500? Or tried the W1500h in another box?

Another question... how do i.e. Array 1500 compare to B460?As far as I know, very few people have been able to get W1500H subs to use in DIY projects. A few have, but very few. As for comparing these different subs, I don't believe many have had an opportunity to spend much time with the 1500 Array. At $5K a pop, it hasn't been a huge seller. We have a pair in our demo room and have sold some. They are a terrific sub, but has anyone compared one to the venerable old B460? I doubt it. On paper the 1500 Array will put out a bit more deep bass, but I can't say that I've compared them. One thing that isn't a matter of debate, the 1500 Array is large... the B460 is ginormous!

I have tried them in ported 100 litres cabinet and 80 litres closed cabinet. The closed one sounds best but need around 10db eq.
What i remember of my B460, W1500 sounds better on every parameter.

Tord: (Baldrik)I´ll get back to you soon. I have lost against the time. And i´m sorry for that.
