4406 - what do you use to plug the screw holes

Or do you just leave it? I can see the batting inside the speaker when I peer through, although I assume it isn't an issue because it seems all of them came this way.

Anyone ever use a turnbuckle arrangement to stiffen a speaker's panels...the screw holes are already in the panels on the 4406.

I just leave mine in...the screw tops are black & round head, so they aren't highly visible or snag on anything. Don't think they've ever been out.

On my 4401s, I found screws that fit & put them in with some soft rubber washer/gaskets to make a good seal.

I have a pair of these, I used to have them hanging. Now the holes are just open. I can't hear any effect.

I use them as computer monitors driven by an old M-4 Yamaha amp. They sound fantastic in the near field. That was what they were designed for. I listen to Pandora Radio or CD's while I am online.

The screw size is 1/4" 20 tpi.

On another, related matter: If one pair of speakers has to go 4408 or 4406?

I think the 8" driver in the 4408 is the very best sounding 8" I have ever heard. So my vote is to keep the 4408. Hey! Didn't you get those from me? Yeah, keep those! :applaud:

I think for general listening I agree, the 4408 has it.

I set my 4406 up bi-amped with a pair of B360 clones. The sound was excellent. I am a fan of those tweeters. I own a couple pair of L100t3's.

After I got your 4408s, they sounded so good that I found 2 pairs of 4406s and the newer JBL s38s. I think I'll distribute the excess 4406s to members of my family.

In general, I've found that prices for everything seem to be falling as people are trying to generate cash these days. I found pairs of LSR32 and LSR28s in the $5-600 range.

Those 4406 make nice surround speakers. I used them with an eyehook threaded in the side and hung them from the ceiling.
