Dear JBL Friends,

Here are a couple photos of my JBL Eons and small mixer that was on our parade float that burned up in yesterday's fire. The Anchorage Fire Department have ruled the fire suspicious and are investigating further.

I am surprised at how completely the eon melted into nothing. Not a leftover basket, but a compression driver visible. I will try to examine the driver when the AFD allow me to get my trailer out of there.

Bad day! I loss some Eons. Hopefully the factory made some more!

Scotty.

ps. No one was injured in the fire. Lisa and I have built and owned the float trailer and sound system stuff for the organization to use for the past 8 years.

WOW! I'm sure you had some pride in building it, and it would be interesting to see what it looked like before the charcoal treatment, but seems best that you weren't there nor burned up with it! Just glad to hear you all are okay after that kind of a fire.

Sorry for your loss. I hope the police find the culprit. :(

Material things come and go in our lives, family and friends are the important things.

There are number of new volunteers building the new float today. I am heading over to see about putting sound on that one.

As crazy as this seems this made the news down here, on the radical right AM radio station (Limbaugh / Levin) no less.

I have seen some pretty cooked speakers before but you win.

If it was arson I hope they catch'em, destroyers suck!

Just got home from building the new float. I have a pair of SR4735's on it and a rack with an old Yamaha P2200 pushing them full range. I have always had good luck with these amps on a generator.
I was originally going to put a Crown K2 amp in the rack, and Lisa asked me "are you sure you want to do that? You know, because of the switching power supply?" You just gotta love her! She knows.

So a big amp with an old school power supply it is. Thank you dear!

I willl let you know what I find when I can get to the eons on our trailer. Fire investigators and the Police have it all fenced in and crime scene taped off.

Scotty, I am really sorry to hear about this. Arson? WOW, I REALLY DO HOPE THEY CATCH THE BASTARD or bastards responsible.

But you will create a new and even better float, and I'm glad your ok, and no one was hurt.

Thank you for your support. I have a meeting tomorrow with the insurance investigator.

Here is a link to the updated news story. All told, we came out doing pretty well!

It sounded better with the old P2200 and 4735's. Just once, I would like to put some serious subs on the float, but then comes the city Health department and their imfamous db meter and noise ordinance and 60db at the property line...yadda yadda yadda!
