JBL C36 Find...Again.

Hello all,

In all of my years of searching for home audio treasures, this is actually the second time I have found a pair of JBL C36 speakers. Some of you may remember a heated thread from a couple years back in which I debated selling them whole or parted out and ultimately decided on selling them whole...to a VERY appreciative gentleman in Kentucky (I think). You were all such a great help back then.

Anyway, I found another pair at a local Salvation Army and they are now here. These are the JBL C36 enclosures with the sexy aluminum legs. Unlike the first pair, these are loaded with Heath Triaxial speakers which I have investigated a little on the net and found are the same as the Jensen GS-300 speakers.

So the reason I am writing this time is to record the serial numbers of the enclosures and see if anyone else here has experience with these Heathkit triaxials. There is also a strange metal disc shaped attachment on the back of the enclosures that don't seem to serve any purpose I can think of.

I have some preliminary photos that I took and will be taking more.

In fact I have never seen the "Heathkit" branded speaker.
As for the plate on the back???:crying:
It looks like some kind of electrical box plate that was made to go on a round electrical box.
Nice find! I used to think that Jensen was the best speaker,,,until I listened to JBL.;)

This pair of C36 with the Heathkit/Jensen speaker sounds better to me than the other one I had with loaded with JBL LE14A woofers and LE20 tweeters.
