sort of... using two input channel's direct outs.

Problem is that the gain is -way- too high for
a line level stereo preamp (25dB minimum to 70dB, input to
direct output)

Even if one were to turn the 6260 input controls
nearly to "off", the input channels of the 7510
could clip.

Seems like a poor application for a 7510.

You could try using or making up jumper plugs (see pages 7 and 10 in manual)
to reduce the channel's gain... that -might- work ... you would still have to
turn down the 6260 input as the "pre" would be unity gain (at minimum)...

So... why do it at all? other than providing a unity gain buffer...

grumpy,

Many thanks for your advice, it just change my mind to buy a pair of it:) You know I just want to find a quality JBL pre to control my pairs of 6260.

Thanks,

yes. Something like a UREI 1620 would be of a similar 'vintage' to your amplifier
and is intended as a heavy-use pro-quality line-level pre-amp with phono and mic
options (should you have need for those)... The problem with those is they tend to
be worn out, or fairly expensive (a new "limited edition" version can be had in
the US for ~ $1500 USD).
