...tough set of years (very limited information appears available).

This was a "beach" series (Capistrano, Avalon, Lido, Monterey ... the 834),
If you trust the info submitted by various bulletin board members, the
834A was a precursor to the Bolero and was a dual 9-10" driver speaker
(possibly, one was a passive radiator), and a 3000-series tweeter.

This is a tough nut to crack,I guess this was not one of Altecs' better sellers. Sure isn't any info about them, that I can find,
Thanks for your input grumpy.

I have some data points as I am currently in possession of a pair. The drivers are 2 x 402A woofers (both driven), 8 inch and3000B tweeter, the later, fiberglass non multi-cell version. They are very similar in size to AR 3s, but I'm pretty sure they meant to be placed sideways, with the tweeter horn horizontal.

The porting is a little unusual. The opening is about 4" x 12", but it's covered by a dense piece of fiberglass, like the "resistive ports" in old Dynacos. They sound very good but are bass shy, especially for such a large speaker.
