I just bought these today (w/o woofers), and loaded my 2225's in them for a ouick test run.. love em!

The weird thing is, the front tag around the crossover says these are L 45 Flares, and the rear badge says C45 Flair....so now I wonder just what model these are? Any ideas out there?

Thanks
Dan

PS the grilles look original and are flat type unlike pics I have seen here at the forum.

C is for cabinets, unloaded.
L is for loudspeaker systems, complete.

The C45 flair cabinet, like many other cabinets, could be loaded with a variety of component choices at either the factory or by a JBL dealer. A peek at the back of full line consumer catalogs from that era will show the options.

In fact the early studio monitors had the C designations before the pro divison got fully established.

I bought a pair once from a music store that had a S8 component set installed. DAMN they were heavy...best 100 bucks I ever spent.

Subwoof,
Thanks! I did browse the library for L 45 (which takes a while on dialup),and did not find any info, except a couple of pics from an early 70's brochure. Is there a way to find out the total years of production? These were $150. w/o woofs, but will need some work to look really good.

In the Library, under Specs, Home Speakers, the L45 is misplaced between the L120 Aquarius and the L200B Studio Master. A quirk of the first organization of the webpage.

Here is the link that will tell all about the L45 Flair and the various versions that could be placed in the cabinet:

BTW, if the woofers installed were 15 inch, then there are a lot of JBL options to restore them.
