2225h vs 2231a

I´ve read that 2225h is easily convertible to 2235h by replacing the conekit, but what is better for Hi-Fi, 2225h or 2231a?
Is 2225h better for Hi-Fi than 2226h?

I wouldn't use a 2226 or a 2225 for Hi Fi if I also had the option to use a 2235. The 2231 recone kits are long gone. There is nothing wrong with 2225 or a 2226 but they are really SR woofers and they won't give you a solid bottom end like a 2235 or Le14 will give you. You may be able to coax them there with some EQ but I wouldn't go there unless I didn't have any other options.

I used the 2225H for hi-fi for 23 years with great success. I now am using the 2235H, with even greater success.:D
There wasn't any difference between the two in the 50 Hz - 800 Hz range that I could tell (where it was crossed over to the 2425J).
The main difference, I found, was with the 2225, I had to play my stereo much louder to get the bass going. With the 2235, the bass is full and extended at very low volume levels and up. The 'slam' is the same inmy listening room.
The 4507 cabinet was tuned to 40 Hz for the 2225 and 32 Hz for the 2235.

Yes, I have had 4 reconed with C8R2235 recone kits for my 4350's

Yes it is. If it makes a true 2235, I am not sure but the recone kit will work with the frame.

Yes but if you can stay away from alnico woofer frames. You are much safer using a 2225 as the ferrite's do not demagnetize like the alnico's can. If you have a reconner that can re-mag them fine but if you don't stick to ferrite's. One less thing you have to worry about.

Yes, in general the 2235 is a better, perhaps much better, woofer for hi fi, but in fact the 2225 has quite a bit more pop, and you can hear the difference dramatically in such things as the way Copland uses the tympani in some of his works.

What's interesting to me, though, is how this question relates to an earlier thread of the OP about building the 4333a, and I suggested a four-way was something that should be considered. With a four-way, you can get the pop and the low frequencies as well, and I think it is well worth the extra expense if it is at all possible to do it.
