Underrated live versions on this film soundtrack. Recorded live at Madison Square Garden, NYC, 27.-29. July 1973.
Listen to "The Rain Song" A4, because it's much superior to the original studio version on LP "Houses of the holy".
And "No Quarter" is still a wonderful live version!

In the mid 60's my Dad called me in to listen to his new record. I looked at the titles and
thought "YUK"
BUT then he played it , I'd never heard anything so clear and direct . cover said "No microphones were used" . Direct.
Later on he gave me the album. Like a fool I loaned it to a friend , but never got it back :banghead:

Yesterday I found another copy (in VG condition) . While still not my genre, it's fidelity is so high that it's just super enjoyable. Looks like each instrument had it's own piezo pickup and fed directly into the console.

The record was produced in 1964 and I've yet to heard ANYTHING on LP that sounds better , even most CD's. :bouncy:

this is only the second copy I've ever seen . IF you run across a good condition copy, do yourself a favor and pick it up (if only to see how good LP's can sound ;))

"Orbiting with" was a budget product with only 4 Orbison tracks. On 1984 released Charly double album "The Sun Years" all 4 songs are included."Domino" was composed by Roy, but credited to Sam Phillips. He had bought the copyright. Some kind of a hostile take-over ....

So many roots. The original 1965 album was performed by Charlie Musselwhite and The Band.
These complete sessions on a very dynamic 2001 Italian pressing were recorded with remarkable guitarists as James Spruill (!!), Billy Butler, Robbie Robertson, Eddie Hinton and Duane Allman. Listen to Duanes slide guitar on D5 Willie Dixon's "Shake for me" played with a whole lotta love. No credits for the sax players on D6 "I'm leaving you".

From Wikipedia:
.........Another picture presents two puns on the album title: a nice pear (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pear), and an image of a woman's pair of breasts; the latter is censored with a black bar on some copies, while other US copies opted to cover it with a purple and white sticker over the shrink wrap.........

Hello, how are you? I wish you a beautiful evening. From Switzerland.
Is this one modern jazz or classic jazz music? ( I see the credits to so many musicians and that fact seems to be suspect to me....)

Sorry I missed this earlier, Fritz. Cheers from the Pacific Northwest. This is definitely modern jazz, lots of interesting tangents.

Vocal production. Anybody recognizes the famous (unknown in 1968) singer of most of these songs? Listen to "With a little help from my friends": you know him! He was one of the characteristic voices of rock music in the 70ies! It's not Joe Cocker! The only flaw of this version is the guitar player, because sadly it's not JP who plays the guitar intro solo.

A strange one. Mick Green (The Pirates) guitar. Slide guitar solo by George Harrison on "Make love not war" B2. Strange but beautiful: "Let's sleep late" B4. Superb cover art by Tony Wright: he made the cover art for Traffic's "Shoot out at the fantasy factory", "The low spark of high heeled boys" etc.

Typical 70ies European Vikings-funkrockjazz. Hot tracks for cool cats. Powerful rhythm group: Jeff, Mike and Joe Porcaro. Listen to "Oriental sign" B4. This track and "Frederick's place" B5 is a salute to Al DiMeola.

Back to the roots: Miller plays the Blues, especially on side B: Jimmy Reed, Willie Dixon, Luther Dixon. With a little help by James Cotton, Lonnie Turner, Les Dudek et al.
Underrated, because this one was not commercial enough for the music market in the late years of the 20th century.

These tracks were previously unreleased performances from the private collection of Mrs. Clifford Brown. They were privately recorded in 1956 and they presented challenging technical problems.
Attention! The dynamics are by far not satisfying. Some kind of a "boot leg" product. But for musically historic purpose it's OK.
