amazingly beautiful trio performances, a love song to the musicians of San Francisco ...

Various songs are dedicated to various artists ...

Highly recommended!

Incidentally, the word Thunderbox is a seventeenth century slang word for the toilet[2] which gives an example of Humble Pie's sense of humour.[3] The cover shows a keyhole through which a woman can be seen sitting on a toilet.

an interesting history on this pressing and the "anti-parent" sticker on the back cover from wiki...

Their distribution deal with Unicorn—which was associated with MCA Records—resulted in an initial pressing of 25,000 copies. MCA Records president Al Bergamo listened to the album prior to release & claimed that it was "anti-parent", although he never cited a specific lyric that led him to that conclusion.[11] As a result, MCA refused to distribute the already-pressed-and-packaged album which bore an MCA Distributing Corp. logo on the lower right corner of the back cover. Black Flag members had to personally visit the pressing plant and apply a sticker over the MCA logo which read, "As a parent... I found it an anti-parent record"[6][7][12]—thus essentially throwing Bergamo's words back in his face.

a tasty find in a garage-stored record collection this afternoon. I've been helping a friend of my neighbor sell her deceased husband's HiFi gear since last year. The house is sold and so time for the 300+ records and garage system to go. I was lured out there with mention of jazz records in the collection - which turned out to be lots of 70s CTI and Grover Washington but a couple of Miles Davis, lots of nice first pressing 60s classic rock including a lot of the SF bands, probably more than a few upgrades. My neighbor and I picked out about 2 dozen records each, and I'm going to clean her records on the RCM and help setup the Thorens TD-160 for her (came with an extra headshell + Grado and Shure carts, will check whether the styli' are worn out). I get to sort out the rest of the gear and records, and sell them for the friend. fun stuff.

My GF turned me on to this recently formed band. They have an 80's sound, as if the 80's sound went on into the late 90's. I like most of the songs but high Road is my fav.

Their website automatically plays full length songs from their first album in pretty nice resolution. If you like 80's/electronic sound give it a listen for free!

Another from the 20 Originals series, this is a 2LP package with the band's 1969 self titled LP and 1971s Time And A Word LP. Original covers on the inner gatefold. Listening to record 1, Yes. Steve Howe on guitar and Chris Squire on bass really stand out.
Two great LP's by Yes! BTW, Peter Banks is the guitarist on these first two LP's, Steve Howe joined the band after the second LP was completed (prior to it's release--which is why he's pictured on the cover even though Peter Banks is credited in the liner notes). Banks style is similar to Howe's (or vice versa?)......

gatefold cover. A $5 grab at HPB this afternoon. It was sitting in the bins, terrific condition, priced at $7.99 all week. I held off buying until I could apply this weekend's 40% off coupon at HPB - I was happy to see that the LP stuck around until I grabbed it. :D

listening to and blowing my mind with the first LP on a new cartridge. There's a really nice low end and separation.

easily one of the top 10 released in the 60's

was there a problem with the Benz or just an upgrade ??

I'm still happy with my various V-15's ....T3 & T5 and just picked up a T4 & another T3, but no where to install them , all 3 active TT's are already set.

I had about ~500 hours on the Benz ACE's stylus and showed moderate wear under the electron microscope at the dealer. I had it checked when I purchased the Rega P5 in December. So the ACE was not yet due for re-tipping but it was getting there. For home use the expected range for stylii is 600-800 hours which equals about 18 months for me.

I ordered the Benz Wood because it was a step up the ladder, to match the step up to the P5. The ACE showed me what's possible in sound quality from the spendier MC cartridges (when professionally installed on a equally exacting TT), it's not a subtle difference going up the ladder, with incredible soundstage and tight low frequencies, and I'm amazed at how much information is sitting in those vinyl grooves waiting for the right cartridge/stylus to come along and extract it.

so it was an OK weather prediction today , a little sunny. Headed out to the flea mkt to test my new home made panniers ....store bought ones are $80+ and still not big enough to hold records ....Last week I bought 2 new identical LEEDS waterproof nylon square briefcases that convert to backpacks ...... records fit just so nice into them ....they had all the right fittings and looked good * ....$6 total.

the flea mkt "closed record store vendor" had some new stock ...I bought these 7 ...the Tull is a double, the Guess Who is a quad, all fine condition...$7 by the time I loaded up the pannys,** headed out and it was snowing ... now a real test ...10 more miles to go in my loop, but the vinyl came home in great shape ...:D

* they had Sherri's Restaurant "we make the best pies" embroidered on each one ...that got black sprayed quickly, but didn't completely cover...so now they have American flag patches overlayed, hiding Sherri

**each side is good for abt 10 records , I don't often get more than the 20 capacity on a bike trip.
