The 033 tweeter in the L212 is a favorite of many here and, like my 044s, it's "softer" on shrill program material or recording flaws. The 077 or 2405 (or even later titanium tweeters) can be a bit irritating but I've found the problems are usually in either the source (CD player, etc) or the program material (recording) and the UHF tweeter is just not designed to be forgiving. :dont-know

welcome Loe .....your English is much better than my Dutch ..:o: I was listening just last night to my JBL's that have a 044ti tweeter and thinking that they are just about right ...not too shrill or too dull ...just right.....and they are titanium, so I dont think the material plays into the equation as much as others do.

( my daughter lives in Germany, but loves to travel to Amsterdam for shopping)

It's the 066. Same as the 166 Horizon and the 4313. 033 is L40 110 and L150. Silver dome on the 066, Black for the 033.

Mostly it is differences in the crossovers, good example is the L80t vs the L80t3. The L80t runs the 035's hot where the have a rissing response and the L80t3 run the rolled of a bit. L80t3 sounds smoother.

I'll second that one, Rob ....could never get past the brightness of my departed L80T's...:(

so does that mean that in a dire situation , an L166 owner could sub an 033 for damaged 066's ?

I doubt it. They are different. If you look at the Tech Sheets the recomended replacement for an 066 is an 044. At least on the L212 and even then you need to do both.

Yeah, sorry. I've made that mistake before. Don't have either so I rely on my addled brain for info and you can see where that gets me. Black-white, iceberg-goldberg. You probably know the joke.

Agreed on the networks on the plastic titanium tweets. The comparison is applicable, too, to how the 035TiA works in the L7/L5/L1. Better networks in them, too, though the initial thought might be that the tweeter changed sonically, going from Ti to TiA. Not true I've been told.

I keep meaning to throw an L-pad on the L80Ts to tame them a bit but I've got EQs on each system and I just don't listen to them that much anymore. Too many others to play with. Or I could just change C7 and R5/R4 according to the schematic, but that's quite a way off-topic in this thread.

Regardless, the difference between an 066 and an 077 could be startling. :)
