Yesterday I posted that Don's photos weren't visible in this thread:
http://audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=27144

all that was there were two lines of text with the file name, number of views, and file size. Odder still, the number of views is climbing but there's still no photo. In PM's with Don, I tried to quote his post and odd icons showed up instead of the photo description text lines but no photos or locations. This was using Firefox on my Mac.

Now Punch's reply would have me believe at least he can see them. So I refreshed the page. Still no picks.

Next I went with an alternate browser (latest Safari version) which did not automatically sign me in to the site. I went to the forum index and found some forums weren't even listed, like the Lansing Product Marketplace. I found that odd, so I went to the main page at Audioheritage.com reentered the site, clicked on "discussion forums" and Marketplace appeared in the list of forums. I went there and clicked on Don's 4343 thread and now in his original post there is a box one-line tall and a couple of inches long for each "photo" with a question-mark icon in the middle of it. Still no photos.

I checked other threads with attached and linked photos and, as best I can tell, they are all working fine.

I suppose my first question would be am I the only one who can't see the photos in the thread?

I thought you were teasing Don last night when you said no photos - the photos were visible to me then and they are now as well.
Mac OS X 10.6.2 with Firefox

Can you see the pictures here?
I'll IMG-link to the pictures from that other thread below

Yep, pix look fine in Don's thread, in my link here, and in your quoted link as well.

Who is your ISP?
If you haven't made any changes to your hardware lately, or updated your OS, I'd suspect a problem there.

Have you installed any new graphics software on your system?

No, no, and nope. And I don't seem to have an issue with attached photos or other linked photos here or in any other sites or forum. Odd.

I'll attach a screen shot of what I get when looking at Don's f/s thread. Hope it shows up! ;)

You must have your speaker porn filter set too high. :D

I can see them... also using a Mac but with Safari. I see that they are not attached in the normal fashion. They are imbedded in his post. I am not sure why that would make a difference though.

Interesting...

I just logged on via Windows XP and couldn't see them with Safari or Explorer.

I can mouse over the "box" in Safari and hit control, then save the address for the image, then dump it in Firefox and the image shows up. These are the addresses it gives me:

and
http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/attachment.php?attachmentid=43187&d=1260597614

I don't get it.

I'll try and post those links in my post in reply to Don and see if they show up. Point seems to be moot since I believe someone moved on them already! No fair since they could actually see the pics!

Well, wouldn't you know now that I've loaded the location, I go back to the original post and the photos show up in Firefox, and in Heather's reply in this thread, too. Still nothing in Safari maybe because I've not pointed that browser to the actual location. :dont-know

Yeah, but it looked fine in mine all along ... even looking at your post quoting mine, the image was there for all of us but you!

Umm, I've never owned a PC. I bought my first Mac the week they introduced the 128k machine. Apple IIe before that! These problems are while accessing this site on a MacBook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo.

Thanks Heather, but I'm convinced it's the odd way Don embedded the photos, and obviously in some way related to something on my ISP (Comcast) or my DNS (OpenDNS). I've checked all other attachments (that I can see!!) here, including photos uploaded to the albums yesterday and they all show up fine. Odd that Firefox and Safari should both have the problem and that Widget experienced the same even on a Windoze box. I'm not using Snow Leopard (yet) but I am at the highest update for 10.5 (.8) and running the latest Firefox and Safari version.

But, nothing I can do about it, apparently and they do show up—even in the thread—now that I've pointed my browser to the original URL for the photos. Very odd.

No - it really sounds like a lazy cache problem - for whatever reason, there is either a network cache at your ISP that timed out before the photos loaded or a more local cache (DynDNS ??) that did the same thing. Once the images got force-loaded into cache, you've got them now and for the future.

Once the images got force-loaded into cache, you've got them now and for the future.Doesn't really explain why only these photos and why each browser handled them differently. I'd expect the "broken" photo icon if was a loading error, not a text display from Firefox and the ? from Safari. And if it was a local lazy cache issue, you'd think a refresh would have gotten it loaded after several re-tries. Or that once it was loaded into Firefox maybe Safari would display it, too? And then Widget encountered the same problem, on a different computer, 3,000 miles away from my local ISP.

But then you're the Web Gal and I'm just a car guy. :)

If its a big image it can fail to load in the cache repeatedly - but this is more IE type behaviour than firefox ...

But the real reason - its Witchcraft!
I think somehow you ticked off the witches in Ohio, near where the picture came from, and they plucked out your eyes ..

In a technomage kind of way ...

No worries seeing the images over here and I’m not using FireFox thou I do like the film. Yeah those images are wow nice and colourful on the wood, yummy almost good enough to eat off.:bouncy:

If it was Photobucket and the image had red x chances are someone deleted picture or they where taken down because they where Deep Throat Images :D or the user hasn’t been to the site for 90 days LOL.
