L220 - LE14A = White cones

L220A - LE14H = Black? Correct?

I know the passives were all black to my recollection, just don't know about LE14H's cone colors.

I am interested in these, they are local and available, but this concerns me a little. I am also puzzled over why anyone would replace both passives? Straight replacement cost(s) versus labor and parts costs to re-cone/re-edge?

Thanks to all :bouncy:

Both the L220 and L220A used the white C8RLE14A cone kit. These were probably reconed with the black C8RLE14H-1 cone kits; functionally equivalent. They look nice, as would the black 128H-1 in the L150 or L150A.

The recone kit for the PR15C is absurdly expensive. One would really have to love such a thing to pay for a recone.

Hi and thank you!
I sent you a PM. Please tell me what you think and if my skepticism is valid. It'll make more sense when you read the copy.
Kind regards,
Thomas

They are painted LE14As. :(

THAT stinks.I never cared much for the LE14A so it doesn't bother me at all that someone painted them. There is only one other driver I've reconed more than the LE14A and that is the 125A/127A :barf:.

Seriously though, if I had a pair of L220's I'd use an LE14H-1 or an LE14H reconed as an LE14H-1 in them anyway. I'd give the LE14A's away to someone who liked them.

Either way, like 'em or not, the job's been hacked.

So as far as the LE14 series of drivers:
That big a difference?
So doe a C8RLE14H-1 make a plain LE14H into a LE14H-1?
C8RLE14H-1 unusable for the LE14A due to fit/motor/magnet issues?

Thanks,
Thomas

I ask as I found a LE14H-1 tech and spec sheet but not one for the LE14A to use for comparative purposes and thus understanding.

Regards to all,

Regards to all,
ThomasI never put the LE14A sheet up since there wouldn't be much point. The LE14A, LE14H and LE14H-1 are functionally the same. The LE14H and LE14H-1 have greater power handling capability due to the larger heat sink of the more stable SFG ferrite magnet as well as the 058 gap. The LE14H held up alot better in the L220/L222 system. You know... people abuse stuff...

Can you elaborate why you never cared for the LE14A?
