Iīm wondering if itīs possible to improve the 4313B filters.
Anyone knows how to?

Thanks but..... any improvement easy to do?
I donīt understand what is charge coupled. Sorry.

It might help if you shared your definition of easy.

A simple site search will generate a lot of information on the subject. Here's a good thread to start:

I meant what are the modifications to do, components to change, capacitors to bypass, part list, schematics....
Thanks.

Again, do a search and look up the Charge Coupled design.
Most stuff folks have shared here is not at a Popular Electronics level,
some knowledge and assembly is required ...

Then again, according to a number of folks here,
the 4313B is kind of the penultimate speaker of that series -
why would you want to dink with a proven great design?

I donīt want to re-make the filters.
Perhaps, bypassing the capacitors is enough to improve the sound.
In this case, I need guidance for such implementation.
Iīm concerned about the integrity of the components due the age.

If I'm not mistaken, bypassing capacitors is a rather subjective exercise, and the sound one person gets with their approach may be very different than the sound you desire.

If you're concerned only about the integrity of the components, why not just rebuild to stock specs?

Just trying to understand what you want to accomplish. If you want stock sound, then a rebuild should be good enough. If you want to re-build with potential improvements, stock values with "higher quality" parts is an option. If you want to "improve" on the design, that's another endeavor altogether, which as Heather remarked earlier, is not basic-level (or as you said, "easy.")

- It's easy enough ( and quite reversible ) to add "bypass" caps to the existing 3113B crossover .
- Just parallel these ( .01 uF ) AudioCaps onto all the existing caps found in the crossover .

Iīm concerned about the integrity of the components due the age.

The original caps use a Mylar dielectric ( plastic-film ) . Typically, plastic-film caps offer much better longetivety than the previous dielectrics used .
ie ; Keep the original caps in place /& bypass them with Polypropylene Film & Foil types ( like the type I've shown ) .

Actually, one frequently sees the misuse of "penultimate" as if it meant something like "superultimate," as in this case. Usually, though, as in this case, a worse gaffe than making a usage error is correcting, except in the role of an English teacher, someone else's usage error, unless it can be done discretely and in the spirit of "there's spinach stuck to your teeth; thought you might want to know." After I experimented with it in social situations I started finding the place setting with my name tag in the kitchen next to the box of empties. I first heard the word in high school Latin class when the teacher was telling us that in the pronunciation of classical Latin the emphasis was often on the penultimate syllable of a word. Or was it something about the penultimate word of a sentence? Darnifino, darnifinare, darnifinavi, darnifinatus.

I think the OP is just asking if there are any already established upgrades to this crossover that someone has worked out, before he builds his 4313B replicas.

I really don't see how you could ask this question this way unless you have NOT done a search on the forum for 3113B. That would be the sensible thing to do, and less likely to stir up crankiness.
