Good morning all. Wow, cool website. :applaud:

Anywho, I have a pair of K120-16s that I want to recone. I would like to have them reconed with JBL 8 ohm E series cones but I am getting conflicting info about the gap sizes.

Does anyone know if the gap is the same for K series 8 and 16 ohm speakers?

Are there any other issues to be aware of when switching from 16 to 8 ohms?

Thanks,

Scoid

Many Solid State amplifiers sound best at 8 to 4 ohms. Tube amps certain ones, may be happier at 16 ohms to 8 ohms.

16 needs 3dB more voltage swing compared to 8 for the same SPL

Great! So just to confirm, putting an 8 ohm E Series cone in a K120-16 will result in the exact same speaker as putting an 8 ohm E Series cone in a K120-8?

Thanks in advance.

the e series cones use newer glue, formers and such so it is a tiny improvement over the k and yes they are interchangeable.

Thanks guys. You have put my mind at ease. It's 500 semolians at OCS for new factory cones and a recharge so it really helps to know for sure that I'm getting what I think I'm getting. Thank you. Thank you.:D
