Hey guys i'm back, you may remember I had the Lansing 284 Field coil drivers for sale a while back, which where sent to a good home thanks to the resources and seeds of knowledge you guys gave me here.

I have recently acquired a Gaumont Kalee 379 (gold crinkle painted, copper)
and a 379 by Rank (grey hammertone paint)

They are both similar to the Lansing 288 in appearance.

Are these drivers Rare?

cheers guys.

Yes, I believe that the drivers you mentioned are quite rare these days. They may both be derivative or licensed versions of the Lansing or Altec Lansing drivers of the time. They were probably built during the time that England imposed very high import duties on foreign goods in order to encourage domestic production. How about some pictures?

The Rank unit's serial is in the 40's
Whilst the Gaumont's is in the high 600's
Construction seems similar..
Phase plug has been cast slightly differently,
and the rear caps are of different construction internally.
apart from that and the handle they are more or less the same.

*BOTH ARE NOW LISTED ON THE BAY.
