Hello all. . .

If I was to mount my LE-85 on top of my cabinet along with my 077 what kind of space would that leave me for a port where the LE-85 once lived above the LE-15? That is if I decide to go for a ported enclosure.

Ain't got the guts to cut a new hole in my speakers.

I also suppose I'd need an entirely different crossover design?

Thanks good peeps, Doug

Hi there Zilchman

Thank you for your response. There is a lot of good information with your suggested link but a lot of it is over my head.

I am interested in playing around with porting my Dad's speakers but I don't want to do any cutting. I know you have worked with a lot of speaker layouts that is why I enjoy picking your brain (that conjures an unpleasant visual huh?)

What do you think of the basic position of the hole provided if I remove the LE-85 for a port? The LE-85 would be located outside and on top of the speaker wiht the 077 that I have obtained. I would put a plate in place of the LE-85 and put the port with it's "vent tube" in the plate. It would be easy to play with the length of the vent tube for tuning.

2 cents worth:

C-50 is what... 4.5-5ft3?

Try just using the hole (~4" diameter)... if it's too boomy, use a 4" duct
fit to the hole... up to 3" long... guessing somewhere in the middle will work
(then you can cut the 3" long duct in half and use it on both speakers :))

Someone else posted a C-50 volume of 6ft3... I must have been thinking
of the Apollo cab?

Still, just the ~4" hole left open in a 3/4" baffle models OK, with a LE15A.
