I'm getting a pair of 2242's in the next month or so, and im wondering what to do with them. I remember years ago seeing a specially built cabinet that housed 2 drivers, mounted facing each other (with hardly any gap between them, if i remember correctly) with one driver wired 180 degrees out of phase. cant remember the details so much, think one chamber had ports firing into the other chamber, which had ports to the outside world, but i could be wrong.

is this design feasable, or was it just a gimmick?

already got a genuine 4645c (not clone) so i dont need to go down that road, but if the idea above is useless, then any suggestions would be nice.

something different maybe, a pair of horn types?

dont want 2 drivers in one cab unless its the push-me/pull-you design above, as i might run them in stereo at some point

Isobaric 6th order bandpass, YES :D:D

thats what i saw.
so is it any good? with 2242's? any ideas?

speakerplans.com looks excellent too, i like the look of those folded horns at the top of the home page, i think the wife could live with those.

Just read that there are no design parameters for sixth order bandpass as Bose holds all the patents.anyone know if this is true? i would really need help figuring out sizes and stuff for this enclosure,as i would't know where to start.

Just found these pics, which look interesting.

Blue line is actual response recorded with REW.

is this design feasable, or was it just a gimmick? This type of design will give you an extremely powerful output but over a very narrow range of frequencies. It is exactly what Bose does to get their classic one note bass response.

Actually Bose sued Harman and made them stop producing this design. Though I have no idea why a respectable company like Harman would want to build "Big Boses" in the first place.

Though I have no idea why a respectable company like Harman would want to build "Big Boses" in the first place. They just wanted to capitalize on the market segment that buys into this design. It's all about money.

Don't want no "one note wonders" just.....no:barf:

JBL 4688 is looking good about now, not too "one notey" i hope.

time to start hunting around for cabs, would be easier than building them for me at least.

How about some transmission line cabinets?
