I want to install a pair of our favorite brand of speakers under the eaves of our house over the deck. There are a pair of Control One's for sale locally, however I'm confused as to their specs. JBL Pro has them listed as indoor or out but make no mention of this in the owners manual. Am I barking up the wrong tree ?

You won't have any problem using them outdoors.

You may want to also look at Control 25's and 28's.

Good luck!

I have a set of Control1 and a set of N26AWII. Both will work out side, but I tend to favor the N26AWII for outside. They are a bigger speaker and have 6" woofer and much better bass.

I've used and am using them both in/out. The only issue I've had with the "outies", is, here on the coast, the metal grilles have oxidized. The drivers are fine. :)

Thanks for the input. I passed on them. I would really like a pair of S36AWII, but can't source any here in Canada

Well firstly I’m out of Control® I’m thee JBL Control® 1 freak. I’m loosely losing Control® but I assure you all I am in total Control® LOL.:D

They are just so affordable and they still have sex appeal after nearly 20 decades since they where introduced.

Note: the JBL fitted for overhead surround and the brackets are holding very well and so simple to install.

The newest introduction I find useful is the speaker bracket that is provided unlike before where the bracket would cost an easily $£40.00 extra.

The only supplier of S36AWII I could find wouldn't ship to Canada ( that's life in the 3rd world I guess ) so I found a pair of N26AW from a retailer who would. The 6 in woofer appealed to me. They appear similar to my E30s. If they sound alike it will be a treat to put down a few brewski's out on the deck listening to some tunes. It shows the trust I have in the JBL name that I would buy these unheard.Hopefully they will arrive before the weather cools off. I will post my impressions once I've had a chance to check them out. Thanks all for your help.

Hi to all.
Here is my impression of the NW26AW Speakers purchased in August.
First there is the JBL in Canada experience, an unreplied to email and one ignored voicemail. Thanks to the good ole U.S of A. where there are people who want to make a buck. Next the install was a snap using the optional brackets from JBL. The only issue was that a grill wasn't properly assembled and the mesh popped out. It took some gentle bending to get it to fit as it should. How do they sound you ask ? Pretty darn good if you ask me. After the Beatles White album and some heavier things they sound crisp, not boomy and disperse very well. They do have that JBL sound tho, if I were to compare these to an indoor speaker in my collection it would be to the E30's. They do have a nice bass for their size.
I guess I can crank up the SR8 Sovereigns in the front room and shake the walls if I want more.

When I got my set I was impressed with the sound, since most of my JBLs are 25~42 years old they sound very good.:)
