Keep us informed. I've used that very setup, but only briefly and in testing situations in which it was a stand-in, so I have not tried to optimize it in any way. Off hand, it seemed to have real potential, which I intend to check out when I have an opportunity of time.

I like the 2450 with the coated diaphragm. I used them on 2311's in my 4345's quite extensively. I think your chosen frequency range for the EH500 horn and driver is a good one.

Nice work.
It's kind of like porting heads or manifolds, if you can see or feel it the air will react. I'm sure sound responds the same way.

I didn't hate anything about the JBL horns I sold except their size. Construction seemed great.

This is the first pair of these I've seen in person. They'd probably work fine as they were, I just wanted to clean them up a little. I wasn't even really shooting for any sonic improvement, I just thought that the one horn in particular looked like heck.

I won't trouble you any further by messing with any non-JBL parts in your forum.

I won't trouble you any further by messing with any non-JBL parts in your forum. That's less an issue than it once was, in DIY, particularly, where anything within reason is appropriate.

Change your title back, or ask a moderator to do it, please.

Is this the horn Ian is using in his project?

Yes.

It seems quite suitable for diy audio.

There are quite a number of ways or crossover a horn/ eq it but I would start with that suggested by Passlabs over on diyaudio.

No, I'm done. I don't know what I was thinking by attempting to add anything to this forum, it was a mistake I won't be repeating.

Geddes fills and smooths the imperfections with clay.

That'd be a good way to determine if the differences are measurable or otherwise significant.

I suspect, once past the throat, not much so, though any discontinuity is a diffraction source to some extent.... :dont-know

Piss. Sounds like I missed something of particular interest to me (currently
have 2445's behind some vertically set up EH-500's). Bah.

Piss. Sounds like I missed something of particular interest...Yeah, no kidding.

At the speed of the Internet: Poof!, it's gone... Pity.
