Ok, so some JBL drivers are labled 8 Ohm and others 16 Ohms but there is little or no difference between the two.

Are the 16 Ohm and 8 Ohm versions of the 2405 slot Alnico drivers really the same too?

My recollection on replacing some bullet nose diaphrams a few months ago was that JBL sells both an 8 Ohm and 16 Ohm versions.

As far as the cone speakers go there are 8 and 16 ohm models, H and J. With the ring radiators I am sure they were all 8 ohm regardless of the name plate.

JBL does make multiple impedance versions of many drivers, however there are a number of vintage drivers such as the 2405, LE15A, and LE85 where the impedance never changed and they were sold as either 16 ohm or 8 ohm drivers depending on the year of production.
