Is it possible?

It is not possible, for probably a hundred reasons, but different voicecoil size (2206 is 4", W12GTI is 3") will kill it there. W12GTI is also differential drive so the magnet structure is different.
Sorry...
... but a 1200 GTI basket would work with a 2206 kit

Yes, sooner or later my great lack of knowledge always shines through. The question should have been ;
' Can you make a 2206 into a Gti 1200, or at least get it pretty close?

Why would you want to,, i dont see the advantage ..
Yes, the 2206 and 1200 GTI do share the same basket, as does the 2226 and 1500 GTI, and the 2241 and 1800 GTI.

Really? So if I find a blown 1500 GTI I can recone it into a 2226?

The reason I am asking would be to use a 2206 (1200) as a car sub. Am I wrong in thinking that the primary difference is the Fs. Can a 2206 (or 2226) be turned into a 1200 (or 1500) with a weighting ring.
Don't laugh at me I am old.

The cone weight and thickness are VERY different so a simple weight will not make the conversion.
I have a single GTI1200 if you are interested maybe a swap?
PM me.
