Hi, I am a foreigner, so please try to understand my English, thanks.

I have a pair of JBL-4425 and a Harman/Kardon power amp, now within my budget, there are 3 choice of pre-amp in my city.
1.QUAD-34
2.Harman Kardon Citation-21
3.ADCOM GFP555 II

which one is better for JBL-4425 & HK power amp combination?

Thank you guys.

Not because it would be the best for the speakers, but because it is a newer and probably cleaner sounding design overall - the Adcom.

The only amp I've heard of the ones You mention is the H/K. I used it together with a Citation 22 amp and I still think that combo sounded very nice. I used it a couple of years on JBL L150's and 250ti's.

You don't mention what model your H/K amp is. If its a Citation 22 or 24 I would say the H/K preamp would be my choice. It's always nice to know that the components you have are developed by the same company and probably have been tested together during development (if they are the same age that is)

Is there any way You can try them all out at home? Maybe if you put down a deposit?

Yes, I second the motion.

Been using Adcom gear for years, love the stuff. The gear I use has Nelson Pass influence. From a sound quality standpoint incredible, very clean, qwik, and precise. From a reliability standpoint A+. If you have some extra $ you might want to look at one of these GFP-750, Pass influance and one of the best they ever made. Make sure to look for the blue circiut board through the top vents, this depicts made in the USA it will also say made in the USA on the rear.

Good luck ;)

Thanks guys, you are truely wonderful.

And I have to say, even the British gentleman--- richluvsound don't recommand QUAD, I think QUAD is strait out.

I have 2 power-amp H/K-pa2200 and ADCOM GFA-5006, I think there are both not very good one, and it is H/K pa2200 that I want to use for JBL-4425.

Hi, sourceoneaudio,I think your suggestion of GFP-750 is great, money is not the major problem, but it 's very hard to find that amp in my country.

LowPhreak and Jakob, thanks for your great but different opinion, it will make me headache, HAHA.

anyother opinion? thanks.

Hi, don't forget I am a foreigner, the UPS shipping cost of a 5~6kg's amp that cross Pacific ocean is about USD100, and I can purchase both H/K & ADCOM amps with USD180 in my city, so it's really not worth that shipping cost, but thanks anyway.
