LE14A wiring

I am a bit confused on the wiring of the LE14A's in my L220 speakers. When I pulled the woofers, one had the green wire to the pos., red, terminal and the other had the grn/blk wire to the red terminal. Which is the correct way to wire them?

Thanks Grumpy, I think you are right looking at the wiring diagram. Odd that the solid color wire, yellow, goes to the red terminal on the tweeter. I would think the wire with the black stripe would go on the black terminal for both drivers? I guess that's what I get for thinkin'!

black stripe to black terminal is what I would have guessed too, but I gave up
guessing on this issue long ago ;) Hope they sound better with matched
wiring! (and presumably now correct inter-driver phasing)

But then that made me look at the L96 owner's manual rather than the tech sheet and saw this:

The solid color wire should always be connected to the positive (red) terminal on the driver.and the L112 manual has a similar schematic as the L220 but shows the green/black-stripe wire to the black terminal. Looks like the L220 is the odd-ball. I even checked the L80T3 diagram for a more modern take and it shows black-stripe to black terminal and green (solid color) to red.

I think how the drivers are connected, compared to each other, is determined by the crossover type. A 2sd order XO, they are in phase and higher order XOs, the drivers connections are reversed, as the higher order XOs put the mid or tweeter 180* out of phase.

At least that what I think I remember reading.That theory holds true when perusing the L250/250Ti schematics as to reversal of phase between the LF and MF drivers, however the maxim of "solid color wire always goes to red terminal" on LF drivers is still employed on those, too—for all four drivers. Which still makes the L220 the oddball. I believe the only thing that remains constant is that there is no convention.
