View Full Version : the strangest thing... replacing 2450J with 2435H

After having the drivers around for 18 months I finally got my act together and finished of a pair of decent boxes for my ME150's. For the past month or so I've listened to them in my other setup with 2450, 2405 and Giskards N333 network. A couple of weeks ago, just for fun, I changed the 2450's for 2435's on Matsj's H9800-horns. The result was really amazing. The sound got even better. The N333 network wasn't made for use with the 2450 and neither for 2435, but was made for a 16 Ohms midrange driver (as my 2450J) and not an 8 Ohm (as my 2435HPL).

I must trust my ears and would like to be able to continue using this combination. Can I do this without risk of damaging the 2435's? What happens with the midranges lower cut-off frequency when using a driver with, in this case, about half the intended impedance?

Thanks for any thoughts about this!
