BTW these ugly horn is ten times cheaper to produce than the original 2342. Sly foxes....

The horn redesign was for aesthetics, if you can believe that. The 4400 series biradial monitors have never sold well in Japan because they were associated with a part of the female anatomy(and not the more common "butt-cheeks" inference as in the US). It was considered vulgar to incorporate this into a commercial product. Therefore, JBL decided to redesign the MKII horn to eliminate this visual connotation since it was specifically intended for the Japanese market.
