Hello all! I was wondering :blink:what the difference is between the JBL D-130 and the E-130? :banghead: Could I use the E-130 in a home speaker system such that it would sound the same as the D-130 when used with the 075 tweeter and the N-2400 crossover? Any one know for sure. :applaud:Thanks, Frank

Hi Vettedrummer

A few years back I had my old JBL D-130s professionally re-coned with the JBL E-130 re-cone kits.
Other then finding that a very slight re-tuning the enclosure's ports was needed to optimize the bass response, the re-coned drivers sounded identical in my 030 system. (D/E130, N2400 and 075).

So, the drivers are interchangeable for sure.

And there is one extra benefit; the E-130 voice coil has twice the power handling capacity of the D-130.

I could be wrong but I think part of the reason the E130 had increased power handling is the motor structure. The ceramic motor had increased heat sink capacity???
