Inherited pair of JBL Lancer 77s

We discovered a nice set of JBL Lancer 77s while cleaning out my late grandfather's place. The cabinets are rough, but the cones look good and we are anxious to give them a spin. Our concern is that the surrounds look pretty dry and stiff. Is there a way to rejuvinate these surrounds? They aren't cracked, but I'm pretty certain they wouldn't last very long under a medium drive. I don't imagine we will get them back to factory fresh elasticity, but is there anything we can apply to the surrounds to get some life back into them so we give them a listen.

We were tossing around the idea of petroleum jelly or something. Any help or suggestion would be appreciated.

We were tossing around the idea of petroleum jelly or something.Close... you can use DOT 3 brake fluid if they are the original off white/yellowish Lansaloy surround material. Alternatively you can recone or change the surrounds.

The cleaning off of the old residue of Lansalloy and old adhesive is the worst part of the job.
