This has been asked before. Here's a thread to read:

The 1400nd is an entirely different beaast from either the 2217 or LE14-3, although I believe it shares a frame with the 1400PRO.

Hi Herve,

- You need to articulate how you wish to eventually use this woofer ( after reconing ) .
- ie; Home HiFi ( bass or sub-bass ) or Sound Reinforcement bass ?

- As far as I'm aware, there's no easy way to turn this Pro Magnetic Assembly into a HiFi woofer with an available JBL recone kit .
- I'm assuming you'll need to employ the services of a creative reconer who will construct something from after market parts .

- What's the depth of the gap ( thickness of the top-plate ) ? ( I don't understand your drawing without labels ) .

>< cheers

- If it's the same as the 2226 / then I'd suggest finding a reconer who'll use an after market voice-coil of proper depth ( for a 2226 ) coupled to an aftermarket 14" cone ( with foam suspension ) . By adding mass to the cone ( to take the Mms value upwards of 125 to 145 grams) he should to be able recreate a le14H x?x .

- This will be a lot of work to do correctly ( with proper TS testing along the way ) / so, it'll most likely be cheaper to just sell that assembly and put the money towards importing a bonafide le14h-3 .
