Hi forum,

I want to introduce a new preamp project.
After collecting some parts oveer several months, now the main parts are together and ready for wirering.
All parts are from professional studio equipment with best audio quality. Each single module has balanced transformer coupled I/Os (high quality transformers don't reduce the audio quality) and is internal active with +22dB headroom.
The faders are equiped with P+G 5" conductive plastic resistors.
The equalizers (mono) are parametric with different bandwidht and center frequency.
Any questions???

reminds me of Levinson's Cello "Audio Suite" ...
in an 'escaped out of the physics lab' sort of way
:D

Looks like a lot of fun & capability in the same
box

grumpy:....your absolutly right....a lot of fun.
Some high end audio from the "golden years" often copied this system of equipment.....like Dieter Burmester from Germany and many others (I think you know the high end amps from Burmester)
The showed system is just the beginning and is very flexible in system configuration. You are able to set insert points whereever you want without reducing quality.

Widget:
the showed system is in this stage the first arrangement and very flexible. The single modules are from different brands, what is no problem in cause of the normed I/O specs.
I'm nearly sure that you never heard of this european (german) brands of professional studio eq. like "Telefunken, BFE, Delta, Neumann (you may know) and others.
For the acceptance of their products in a hardly competitive market they all had to sell first class, with pin compatible modules.

BTW: I am a collector of the manuals of this stuff since 20 years. If anyone needs assistance....

I'm impressed. Telefunken, Neumann, Klangfilm, etc......all very great. Also in the US Fairchild has done some nice equipment too which is always good to find.

Have you implemented a phono preamp in your unit? That is assuming you're into vinyl.

Hi Dave,
at this time I don't have a phono unit. But I'm workin on it.
I just develop a high q mic amp with very little noise transistors as the first stage (LM 394 or MAT 02). Based on this I easy can add the equalizing for a MM and MC phono amp stage, of cause built in the same kind of mini cases and with balanced transformer outputs.

Hi Figge,

no problem.....if you can get the parts, I can tell you how to build one :D

BTW: the use of this preamp is more easy then a conventional.
Only relais controlling keys...push the CD-key and lift the fader....thats it :)

here's a topview from the backside cardrack with amps and power supply.
