Did JBL change their numbering for diaphragms?
I got a hold of a couple of 2440 and 2441 compression drivers.
The 2440s have a diaphragm #61435 dated 1987 in them.
The 2441s have a daiphragm #61435-02 dated 1994 in them.
These do not match current model numbers for these drivers.
Have they changed numbering system, or are these diaphragms not of JBL manufacture. I can't find these model numbers anywhere.

Hi JohnH
I can't give you a direct answer but I suspect those numbers are just batch/production numbers / not actual part numbers. Some old (1980) shipping boxes in my collection, have the still utilized/current "D16R2441" printed on them. I have 2441 diaphragms that have the #61435 on them ( with no date indication ). The 2441 diaphragm has the embossed "diamond-pattern" looking surround. A 2440 diaphragm has a simple inverted "half-roll" surround . Of the 2440 and early year 2441 diaphragms that I have, all have 8 small metal stand-offs ( or built-in washers) underneath the outside rim, located at the 8 bolt-holes .

Hi

Here's a pic showing the differences in the metal "sheen" between aluminum and titanium. This should help you identify if your diaphragms are aluminum or titanium. Titanium is duller than aluminum .
