Congrats!! I'd like to think we all have been lucky enough at one time or another to experience this.

My story - I was just driving down a sidestreet and saw a garage sale with a bunch of speakers among the junk. WTF - two L65As and two L150s!!! At first I was just going to take the Jubals - until he practically begged me to haul the big ones away also!! 'Replaced the foam and they were really almost like new! I'm embarrased to tell anyone how much I pad for them - he was just happy he didn't have to take them to the dump... :eek: :rotfl:

Lucky you lived near the Santa Cruz area (all of us would have considered within 4 hours to be close for that!!).

Great Score, get us pics when you can. I've got a pair of L300's and 4333A's so can help with questions too.

Took off the curtain material grill fabric the previous owner put on and was happy to discover the original JBL material and emblems underneath :)

Ya they definately are going to take some work to get into shape, but on my budget I have to buy the cheaper stuff that needs some "lovin". I am still jazzed that I finally get to check out for myself the sound of the L300. Hope they live up to all that has been said off them.:cheers:

Surrounds are totally toasted, so I am debating if I should try to refoam them myself or have them reconed with jbl parts. Anybody have a opinion on this? I would think that reconing would be the best way to bring them back to proper specs albeit at a higher price than just a refoam.

However if short of cash, and or unable to find a qualified JBL repair outlet, a resurround can be sufficient (provided you've not got other rubbing reasons for a recone).

Resurrounding is not so difficult, and not so costly - you can give it a try yourself, in the privacy of your own shop, and the re-visit the entire decision. Why not give it a go...?? :yes:

I had mine reconed and regaussed at Orang County for Under $200 w/shipping! They sound great. However if I had to do it all over I would have Giskard recone mine with the 2235s

I would like to hear more about reconing using the 2235 cone, has someone already done this? Would it be done to get more low end out of the L300's ? What would be the downside?
If I do have to recone I would like to weigh my options.

The 2235 is the only currently available kit for them from JBL so any authorized recone will make them "2235As". It costs about $135 each to recone them and about $25 the pair to refoam.

Give the refoam a crack... you only have $25 to loose and you get to spend some quality time with your JBLs!
