I have a pair of LE10H-1 with cracked old surrounds which I would like to convert to midrange model 2012H. Then I could get much more out of the JBL speaker "LE10", not as bass driver but as a low mid, or high bass driver to fit to my 4 way active loudspeaker system.
The reason for choosing 2012 is mostly because this models re-cone-kit is much cheaper than the 2123.

Is this a hopeless idea ?

This idea popped up when searching for used 2123H and/or 2012H speakers. It was then I discovered that my LE10´s surrounds had becomed stiff and brittle. This was not so good when my the intention was to sell them to get new or used midranges.
I´m very grateful for answering

Best Regards

Hey, Flodstroem...

Many moons ago I considered the merits of such an exercise, thinking that since the LE10H is such a fanstastic transducer, it might make suitable mid-bass in-lieu of say a 2122.

Well, Giskard gave me an improved understanding :bash:, and, well, I won't go down that road again. :duck:

I'd suggest you get those LE10H's resurround, at a minimum, and then keep searching for the proper mid-bass. Patience...

Also, you might do a Search for 2122 and I'll bet that dialogue with Giskard comes-up.

Hi Flodstroem,

I owned both speakers. You can't make an 2012 out of an LE10H-1. The baskets are completely different!

I would be interested in the LE10 baskets.

PM me if you would like to sell them.
