Hi all,
I am a new member here, after reading for a really long time.
I like to build my own hifi and I live in germany. I want to use the above mentioned driver for my horn system.
And maybe I want to tweak it. I would prefer spherical horns above the horn coming with the ET-703.
Here in germany we have the metric system and thats why I know nothing about the screws used by TAD.
Is there anyone out there who can give me the correct name of the 4 screws used in the front of the ET-703. This would make it possible for me to buy 8 screws.
Thanks
Heiner

Hi mats,
the paper you have posted is misleading. It is true the "cage" for the ET-703 is mounted with metric M5. But the horn in front of the driver is mounted with imperial screws.
Hopefully there is an ET-703 owner out there in the "imperial" part of the world.

Sorry Mats,
I do own a ET-703 and it is definitely not M4 (if this means metric and it does in germany) it is a kind of imperial screw. The length is not so important. It is only the imperial name of size and pitch and so on to be able to buy such a screw in GB or oversea.
I do not know the right english expression but I try: It has 36 turns per inch maybe this is called pitch.
Thanks für you investigation. Maybe TAD changed the screws sometime ago.

If you calculate a inch/thread per inch you get, 25.4/36 =0.70. Yes itīs metric.

Maybe TAD changed the screws sometime ago.Possibly. I would be surprised if they were not metric, however I suppose if you have a very early one they might have used an SAE thread. (Society of Automotive Engineers). Some of TAD's early design team were US.

If you are near a major city perhaps you can find an import car repair shop that works on US vehicles. They would likely have the measurement tools to verify thread size and pitch.

Mats, thank you, it really sounds like metric. I have already been to a shop in my town and they could not identify the screw. But there is a big special shop in the next town less than an hour away and I will try there. Now I am optimistic again to find the right screw.
I like the idea with the import cars aswell, thanks for that. My ET-703 is really new and therefore it is possibly metric and I just did not recognize it.

Since you have the screw itīs easy to try with a nut. How long do you want them to be ? I have some M4 at work and i can send you some if you want.
