tnx giskard... one can allways count on u. so the 120 ti is homeversion of 4412? the tweeter & mid looks like the ones in 4312. found the 120ti:s in an add. but there where no LF drivers in them. someone had put some 1000W jbl car bass in there instead.

how can somebody destroy a pair of relatively fine speakers that way? any 12" driver would probably do better in there. but nooo!:banghead:

As I understand it, the L100T was the home equivalent of the original 4412 and the L100T3 was the equivalent of the current 4412A.

"so the 120 ti is homeversion of 4412? the tweeter & mid looks like the ones in 4312."

Kinda, the 4412's use "cheaper" midrange and high frequency transducers and a different network.

It happens all the time. I wouldn't let it bother me if I were you.

Kinda, the L100T and L100t3 used the 2214H LF transducer. The XPL200 also used that driver as did the 4425.

could it be worth restoring? the cabinets are fine. and how would these compare to L-100? i know u guys dont dig the l-100 (deep inside u love them...i know:-) )....

Yes, way deep down inside the original L100 is loved.

I would speculate that if someone thought the original L100 was the bomb then they might find the 120Ti "boring". The L100T or L100t3 might be better choices for someone who likes the original L100. I lived with 120Ti's right next to L100T's and L100t3's for several years and definitely prefer the 120Ti's but only if they are properly situated on stands and away from excessive boundary reinforcement.

Well, don't be too sad. If it's the old 1200 GTI then You can probably get 1500 Sek for each of 'em. I have a pair of these 9 kilo monsters in my car, and they sound great. The same punchy, tight bass I expect You enjoy with your L-100's. So put 'em in your car (needs a large box) or simply sell them.

My brother has a pair of 120 ti:s and I think they sound very good. Soft yet crisp highs and deep yet tight lows. But as Giskard said; they need good stands and should stand away from corners, walls etc.

I just remembered one thing: I don't think that the 128H-1 and the old 12-inch GTI woofer has the same frame diameter and there is 8 holes in the car woofer frame but only 4 in the 128H-1.
You'd better look out for damages in the veneer behind the frame of the woofer. Just a precaution if it really is the "old" 1200 GTI woofer that's mounted.

They don't appear to be the 128H-1 versions, but I recall someone stating in another thread that the -1 versions were probably just a little stiffer - I'm sure the 128H would at least sound better than the car speakers! And probably worth it - the list on the 120ti was $699 each!!

hey their white! like my l-100:s i already love em.:D im beginning to realize its worth restoring. but shipping those babies from the us to sweden shure gonna cost. dont know how much but...i´ve seen em around here in sweden also. so the differences between 128H & 128H-1 are´nt that big? exept for the surroundings? since most of of the ones u find need new surroundings i guess i might as well recone it to 128H-1. thats possible right?

On the JBL substitution list they have the 128H-1 specified as the replacement for the No Longer Available 128H, so they must be fairly similar. And if only the foam is deteriorated you don't need to recone them - it's much less expensive to just replace the foam, as long as the cone itself and spider/voice coil are still OK.
