View Full Version : How good are the 808J drivers for subwoofer use?

Good day to all,

My speaker (ti10k) has two 808J drivers in a 40L (or something) ported enclosure that take care of bass response. While they go deep, they could produce a bit more SPL, especially around 25-30Hz region. When driven using a dedicated amplifier with a +6db bass boost in 30Hz, will these drivers perform impeccably (without too much distortion) around 95db SPL levels? Let's assume the amplifier has unlimited power. The technical sheet of ti10k says nothing about the driver parameters - especially the maximum cone excursion and resonance frequency would be nice to know (I know they can be measured, but it'll cost big time if they already read somewhere :))

So what do you think, should I just get two subwoofers or are twose two 8" 808J's noteworthy candidates for this purpose?
