I just received a pair of JBL 150-4C woofers and am wondering about the heavy ring that bolts to the frame. It seems to sandwich the edge of the surround. Is that the purpose?

I found the answer on this site. An extension ring was added to beef up the frame and allow a steeper slanted and stiffer cone than the D-130.

None yet but it was an opportunity to pick them up for a reasonable price on a low BIN on Ebay before anyone else could grab them. They are fairly close with serial numbers of 12832 and 12837.

I have a pair of JBL 375 drivers that I absolutely love that are currentlly in Olympus S7 boxes in my TV surround system and I have a loose plan to have a pair of Hartsfields built someday and see if they match the hype.

I'm mainly an Altec guy and have several vintage speaker systems including 620As, Valencia 846As and Model 15s.
