I've had a few different center channel set ups for my main HT so far. ...some were better than others but I recently cobbled together a system that is very good.

Anyway, it consists of a 12 inch 2206 and a 2425 compression driver and smallish non-JBL horn inside a refurbished L100 cab. The cross is currently 800 which I may adjust/modify a tad higher later, I suppose....

So I've been listening for several days now and this is a very decent rig. This upgrade confirms my opinion that a quality center channel is essential to a good multi-channel HT.

Good choice of drivers. I am currently incorpoating a 2202, 2425/2370 into my home theatre setup. I have a slightly different philosophy than most. I consider that the centre speaker is the most important and it doesn't really need to be of the same type as the left and right channels. I run L150's all round with 2235 subs. The centre sounds nice and I am looking forward to finishing the project and settling in for a good long listening session. :)

My first HT had 4 large "Kliphorn" speakers that were identicle and a dedicated special Kliphorn center channel and Kliphorn sub woofer.

All four large monitors sounded identicle but equally poor. The center channel was just pathetic; the sub blew after a couple of years.

I'm working on one at the moment also, so far the plan is a couple 2118 8" mids, a 2445/2397 horn and a 2405 tweeter. If I don't get enough LF I might replace the 2118's with a couple of Part Express 8" 'reference' woofers I have kicking around.
