Just wanted to say thanks to all the members who helped and contributed to this great forum.

I was able to replace the woofer surrounds on my newly acquired 4313B’s that was gifted to me from a friend by following bobputman’s informative thread:

I replaced from EBay one LE5-9 midrange due to a tear in the cone. Interesting how EBay seems to have what you’re looking for when you need it.

Changed out the old crossover caps w/ Solens and added the .01uF bypass from techbots article and got the correct crossover schematic from fangio.

The grill cloth was hanging from the frame so I removed it, washed it gently and re-stretched it following saeman’s excellent post using contact cement and an iron.

The brushed aluminum on all the speaker fronts were tarnished so some light sanding with emery and Flitz cleaner with a felt pad on a Dremel did the trick.

Sanded the cabinets and used natural clear Watco oil finish for the veneer.

Finally I’m going to make some stands following this diy link:

The 4313B’s sound fantastic! I am extremely happy that I did this project, lately I have been playing some of my favorite CD’s through a NAD 3140 amplifier. I am hearing nuances and information that I did not know existed, the attack of bass is especially noteworthy. A recurring thought keeps running through my mind as I smile/listen saying - this is how recorded music should be heard.

So once again to all who contributed, shared and posted –

Thank you…

Stan

Agree! Great, meticulously careful job on a great cabinet! Great choice - worthy of all that work.

I imagine your surprise at their incredible sound. I personally think that 10-in woofer far superior to most all of JBL's 12-in offerings...

Nice job. I just finished restoring a pair of 4313's. Amazing what a little thought and TLC can bring out.:)

Agreed on the 10" woofers from this age, a lot more control and less boom than other 12" woofers from this era.

I also owe a tip of the hat to all the members that have posted about these Monitors and restoration techniques, here, at LHF. Invaluable knowledge that I hope I can pass on to other JBL users.
