I am thinking about buying a Yamaha MX-D1 for my JBL S2600 speakers. Do you think this would be a good fit?

Power would not be the limiting factor. ;)
But finally you should try it yourself.

I did notice that. Is'nt that an odd thing? That is why I was curious. I suspect your right-I need to find out for myself.

Thanks for your input!

I think the modestly powered digital amp works well for a few reasons.

1. The S/2600 is efficient at 92dB SPL sensitivity, and the clean power of the digital amp drives it quite effortlessly.

2. The S/2600 has a more limited FR than some other large speakers (30 Hz - 20 kHz -6 dB and that -6 dB is significant and the low end) and it doesn't pull the power or bandwidth that some large speakers need.

3. The unique horn is quite revealing, and the digital signal is very uncolored, so there are no coloration surprises coming out of the horns.

Mcintosh MC 402 amp and C46 pre-amp. Best I have ever heard.
