Is this an original JBL color???

Good question...JBL did have a tan grille available for quite a few models during these years.

The tan grille that was available for the L300, for example, looked a lot like this.

However, the catalog and spec sheets I have specify red, brown or blue for the L65.

The material is not cloth, it's some type of plastic, or vinyl. I cleaned it with fantastic, it can't be original, can it.??????

If it isn't cloth fabric, then I'd say definitely not. :no:

It does look like cloth in the photo though....

Pete, they had stains, so I pondered, .. last ditch.. fantastic and paper towels. Now they look new,.... Mike....

So, any proof that it's original??????????. Fantastic and a paper towels will not clean cloth, I must have grills on steroids......Mike.

That isn't original although close to the fabric JBL had going in that era. Blue , Orange & Brown were the only options that were offered in my area.

FWIW...

We used to refer to the L65 brown grilles as "Peanut Butter". They were not dark brown, in fact they were not much different in color than the ones in your picture....maybe just a slight bit darker.....But they were definitely made of the standard old cloth we used for everything else at the time
