4315 Speaker Stands

The oak 4315 Speaker stands are done. I wanted the exact tilt-back of the L-300's and the ability to move them as well. The casters are sunken in, from the bottom, so that the edge of the stands is only a 1/2 inch or so off the ground and the casters are hidden.

I am pleased with how they look. The Velodynes work very well, though I find it better to leave the grills on, as that much woofer motion just about freaks me out! The 4315's can run naked.:D

Thanks and yes, they sure sound better, but I'm not sure if it's psychological. They sure look better than just being 'boxes' on the floor.

Any idea how much it would take to duplicate them (hint, hint!)?

Bart, I had a good bud build them and it took him awhile. I can provide dimensions and I'll take add'l photo's of the undersides (that will cover WDJ's request as well). R.J. Timmerman out there in Nebraska provided the custom reproduction labels for the stands and he did a nice job. He shipped them in bulletproof packaging that would've survived a Metro Rail accident.

I spent over $100 on materials. Solid Oak is soooo frigging expensive these days! Plus, I went with all brass fittings and screws (I hate the look of cheap stamped steel...). I'd estimate about $150 total for both stands.

(PS, if you can run bigger wheels do it. My friend had a tough time with the bigger wheels and they would've rolled easier, but they work good enough, as they're not moved that often)

Very nice! The labels are a nice touch. Did you remove the labels from the speakers themselves?

Bart and WDJ, I'm gonna get the measurements tonight and post them. Pete, the labels were custom-made by our good friend R.J. Timmerman. It's nice to see the silver-orange-and-black of the JBL Professional logo, without having to remove the grills.

The stands are constructed from 3/4' thick oak and were lovingly stained and veneered by my significant other, Deb.

Here are the dimensions:

Width -18"
Depth -14"
Front Height - 5 1/4"
Rear Height - 3 3/4"
Back Board - Height - 7"

This one looks even nicer than the last one....that is if the pics are authentic. The grille(s) appear two different colors. It still looks nice though....

I have a B-380 - the grill is two piece and its supposed to be two-tone like that (kinda cool, don't ya think?).
The previous ebay one was not correct in that aspect.

The BX63A can be built by anyone who likes soldering stuff together. The most expensive part would probably be a nice little chassis.

Very nice stands! The 4315s look great on there. Looking forward to the dimensions and angles. I might make a pair for mine.

I really don't notice missing much bottom end with my 4315s. Perhaps, it is the room or the gear?

Regarding building the B460, I own a couple 2245h and was looking for some good box plans for them. the B460 clone might be the ticket..

The first B380/BX63A was physically only about 100 miles away from where I live; monetarily it ended up on the other side of the world!

I've made a parts list for the BX63A (schematic is on the JBL site).

Someone (mbbotz?) had put a B460 drawing on the site. I'll be using that to build the cabinet from. I’ve found some pictures also.

Now it’s just a small matter of getting the time/money/spousal approval all to align!

Well I picked up a B380+BX63A last year in N.C. from the origanal owner and both grills were covered in JBL Brown!!!:blink:
