Anybody our there have experience with cleaning the fronts of blue painted monitors. I have a set that has a few unknown stains on them. What specific cleaner could I use that won't affect the paint itself?

Thank you,

Steve

Hi Steve, I had a similar problem. The previous owner of my 4345's added "extra" Velcro to the baffles. I tried to lightly apply "Goo-Gone" and took off most of the offending dried up glue, but as I was doing so, the cleaning cloth was turning JBL blue. Be careful.

Maybe try the Mr. Clean micro fibre (Magic Eraser) sponges on a small area first?

Hi Chas, I was thinking more on the lines of 409 or simple green, Thought I would ask first as I'd hate to have a vanishing blue paint situation...Anybody have good success with spray on cleaners?

I'd be trying plain water and elbow grease, or a -very- mild/diluted detergent, if I
had such a problem.

If it isn't water or detergent soluble, try naptha/benzene/lighter fluid.

This treatment won't dissolve the paint itself?

No, it is a very light solvent, not like paint thinner, acetone, MEK, or toulene/xylene. You can use it to take road tar off automotive paint (without damage to the paint).
