I'm picking up a pair of these in the next day or two. Searched and found a few threads on these, and am still looking for more info.

Does anyone know what kind of connectors these have? Bare wire – DIN – ¼ jacks?

Do they have factory bi-amp option? If not – I’d like to have inputs on how to modify for bi-amp.

I'm going to try them in 40' x 40' room with listening positions from 10’ to 30’ away.

Thanks,
Steve

They should have the push type connectors that accept 18 guage wire. You can use a smaller guage, but you'll need to terminate at the post with 18 guage pins.
P.S. I have the 4507 cabinet I bought separately along with the separate components (2225H, 2425J, 2370 & 3110A) to form the 4671 system. The 4671OK is an 'enclosed' pre-assembled version. The connector arrangement may be different.

Not stock with the bi-amp option.

Makes a great, very realistic sounding system.
The 2370(A) is a medium throw horn. IIRC, 30 foot throw.

Hope this helps.

Hey - Ron. Thanks for sharing. Nice to know the 30' horn throw. Did not know such a measurment was avail.

I'm going to use these for high volume rock and roll. Seems as most people think they are good for this application.

How many watts are you using?

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,
I'm not 100% certain the throw is 30 feet. It may be 15 feet. It's been a while since I last looked.

I'm using the Marantz 300DC. 150 WPC. DC design and dual mono.:applaud:
This past July, I bought a pair of 2235H. Closing 2 of the 4 ports yields outstanding VLF results. It tunes the cabinet to 32 Hz.

The overall voicing using either the 2225H or the 2235H is the same. The difference is when the source contains VLF passages.
I was amazed that JBL maintained such high quality standards. I bought the 2225H new back in 1985. There is no difference between the two pair in the mid range area that I can hear. My findings are based on listening sessions, not measurements.
The system cross over is 800 Hz using the 3110A

Here's what I noticed with the stock 4671;
With the 2225H, the lowest notes of the bass guitar will drop out unless you have the gain set at a high level. With the 2235H, those notes are present with the volume set at a very low position on up.
The 2235H has a wider as well as flater response compared to the 2225H in the 4507 cabinet.
Don't get me wrong. The 2225H is a great woofer. Depends on the type of music you listen to.

If you decide to change to the 2235H, I wouldn't recone or sell the 2225H. The 4507 cabinet offers flexibility in that you have 3 tuning options.
All 4 ports open.
One port closed.
Two ports closed.

You can make a killer system leaving the 4671 as you have it and then add a sub using the 2235H. That's what I plan on doing in the near future.
Spending $700 on a pair of obsolete 15" woofers may seem to be a bad investment on the surface, but considering the above options made it worth while for me.
Hope this helps.

Hi Ron,
Thanks for the detailed feedback. Great insight for me and fun to read your impressions.
I’ll read up on the 2235’s.
I’m excited to hear them first hand.

The best part of replacing the 2225H with the 2235H is that the overall sound didn't change. The 2235H extends the low frequency response.
The stock 4671 is -3 dB at 45 Hz, -10 dB ("usable response") @ 35 Hz. With the 2235H, the system is -3 dB @ 35 Hz, -10 dB to 27 Hz.

I am still thinking about building 6 of these 4671's.

I have the parts, minus the 3110 xover. Biamp at 800hz.

Might be a great box for a little dance floor with a few 18's for subs.

It must be a Zilch thing. All I can see lately are two-way designs in my head.

I was making the bed efore going to work and was thinking about these boxes and Zilch writing somewhere about a PT95/2435 horn instead of the 2370/2425 combo.

Man, I need to get back into a speaker building project, badly! I am going nuts!

Scotty.
